How its formedTropical cyclones start as tropical depressions, which are strong low pressure systems that form in low altitude areas near the equator and sometimes over an ocean. They become a cyclone when the wind speeds increase. It also has a low pressure system often in the middle called the eye which has no wind inside it and is quite calm.
